Games Football | ProductsOne of the changes that Camp brought to football was known as a turnover. Each team was allowed three attempts to move the ball five yards. These tries were known as downs. If a team did not move the ball within the three tries, it went to their opponents. That was the turnover. In 1906, the distance was changed to ten yards. Six years later, the number of downs was increased to four so that players could have better chances. Other rules were added over the years to ensure safer games. Football regulations became stricter and intentional rough play was banned. Apart from this, a buffer zone that keeps the two teams separate was added. |
